World Maths Day 2010
Posted on March 03, 2010 by Russell
So today is World Maths Day, when office workers all over the globe throw their calculators out of the window and try to work everything out in their heads instead.
Not really; it is World Maths Day, but it’s actually aimed at young people between the ages of 5 and 18 – according to the official World Maths Day website they can play against other students from around the world in live games of mental arithmetic.
Each game lasts for 60 seconds and students can play up to 500 games, earning points for each correct answer. The students who answer the most questions appear in the coveted Hall of Fame. .
Last year 1,952,879 students registered to take part, from 38,000 schools in 204 countries – impressive huh!? Good luck to you all again this year!
And by the way, if you’re looking for a gift to congratulate your own little brain box for taking part, then check out this Advanced Maths Notebook over on our website…
